I am a Veteran and I’m Concerned

Navy Vet

When I was seventeen years old I enlisted in the military, in my case the branch I selected was the Navy. On the day that I enlisted, like many people who enlist, I did not necessarily understand the gravity of taking such a step; or the depth of making such a decision at an age when officially I could not even vote.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

These simple words, spoken by everyone who ever enlisted in the US Military, are the last words they ever say as they leave the civilian world. These simple words are the first step towards making a young man or woman a protector of the freedoms and the rights of all Americans.

How to Lose a Customer

Creepy Devil

There are certain moments where you come across a situation which is so ridiculous that you can't actually believe it happened. This is one of those moments.

Several years ago I opened an account with the University of Illinois Employee Credit Union. I always had money in the account, I was never overdrawn, and normally only used the account for trips, or the occasional purchase. Sometimes I went months without using the account. In a normal world this is no big deal.

Let Me Show You How!

Self-check

Let me preface this by saying I have used self checkout lanes at Wal-mart, Meijers, Menards, and probably one or two other stores. I know how they work, I know how to use them, and I hate them just the same. I will get into why I hate them in a minute. For now lets just say there is a reason I am writing this post.

Friday Blues

Meestings Suck

The sun is out, the temps are great. All in all it's a beautiful day.. and I have way too many meetings today. There needs to be a Federal law that limits the number of meetings that can be held on Fridays.

I'm Famous Drawing Contest

I'm Famous Book 1

Last month I entered the "I’m Famous! 2nd Anniversary Drawing Contest!" with my rendition of their Lone Wolf character. A couple of days ago I found out my entry won the contest grand prize; You can see my entry over on the announcement page. Today I received the prize, a copy of their first year of comics book.

New Things Are Brewing

Artist at Work

I just made some changes to feeds and pushes to various areas on my two main websites to make my life a little easier. It's not going to cause anyone to change their views of reality or life in the universe as we know it.. but it will make it easier for me to synchronize my sites across the web. Now if Google+ can just get on-line with their APIs.

News to Me

Washinton Post Tweet

Apparently one of my tweets was featured in a Washington Post Blog post by Elizabeth Flock. I didn't realize my tweets had such far reaching impact... grammar mistakes and all. *laughter*

Where's My Stuff?

So, I ordered something the other day and it was scheduled to be delivered two days later. I received notice it was delayed from some odd reason; fortunately it wasn't anything which mattered all that much, but thanks to UPS tracking page it was easy to see why it didn't arrive on time. Amusingly it hit the same distribution center twice, and went to two other states that in no way should have been part of the journey to my house:
