Every once in awhile an idea strikes me when I am actually thinking about something completely different. In this case it ended up leading me into looking for a way to use a spare 2nd generation Echo Dot I had laying around.
As with many of my projects it starts with some glue and some clamps, and a design idea I had in my head that I hoped would work out.
Then a few passes through the box joint jig with the router to shape the sides. A quick test fit and it was ready to move to the next stage.
Then it was time to shape the top and bottom and start adding the cutouts that will be used later.
Then it was time to test fit the top and make sure the Echo seated properly. At this point nothing was glued together so I could still make changes if I needed to.
Then it was time to make sure all of the other hardware fit correctly, and to test the final design layout.
After it was all glued together and a bit of sanding it was time to put it to use and put it in it’s final location where it will be used.
