I was planning to give a gift of bourbon to a friend of mine. The problem is you can either hand them the bottle, or maybe place it in a wine gift bag, or wrap it with wrapping paper. Since I am not the biggest fan of those options, I decided that I was going to make a custom wooden box for the bottle.

I decided to use poplar to make the box, since I had some already available at my house, and all of the hinges, clasps, and handles I had on hand, since I had ordered them in bulk when I was working on a few other projects.

The finished box was the perfect size for the bourbon, and it looked a lot like a tiny little tool box.

I think it looks a whole lot better than a gift bag.
