Sometimes around the holidays I like to make a few homemade gifts to give to friends or co-workers. This year I also had a dozen Soju shot glasses that were gifted to me to help decide what I could make.

It may come as a surprise but the project starts with some gluing and clamp time. This time I decided to make a different design for the flights.

This also required a few more cuts, and some more gluing and clamp time… and a bit more math. It may not look like it, but in the image above there were three separate flights being worked up at the same time.

After the pieces were dry, I ran them a few planer passes through the planer, and and squared them up with the miter saw to make them perfectly square.

Then it was time to start boring the holes for the Soju glasses, but I wanted to make sure they were they right sized holes for the glasses before drilled them all.

After the holes were drilled, I decided to finish up the design buy giving all of the edges a simple round over to soften the flights, and to give them a unique aesthetic.

After that it was a bit more sanding, add the Wislander brand, and then a few coats of polyurethane to seal them and finish the project.
