I was looking to make a nice little bench for my lady’s house where she could sit while putting on or taking off her shoes when she enters and exits her house. Because it originally started as a simple bench, I forgot to take any photos until I had started the build, changed my mind, and had partially completed the build.

At this point the basic shape and proof of design was already in place, including adding some storage, and wrap around planks to give it a more solid design and feel.

After that I added some edge pieces and really finished out the look and feel of the bench. At this point she got to see it and sit on it to make sure all of the dimensions worked for her.

Once that was complete it was on to the finish sanding and adding a few coats of spar indoor/outdoor polyurethane, and we were almost done.

Since I knew it was going to end up in a mudroom and would be exposed to rain and snow covered footwear, I also added a nice wax coat to it.
