I had a number of left over slats from other projects that had worked on, and got a really good offer on some double shot glasses and decided to put the two together.
As with a lot of my projects it started with some water safe glue, and some wood clamps. This was of course after a few passes through the table saw and the miter was to get the all to similar sizes.
After the glue dried I ran the newly formed plank through the planer to take the glue off of the top and bottom, and to even things out. I also trimmed of the ends to make sure everything was nice and square before I started the math portion of the project.
After cutting the plank into three equal pieces, I sat down and figured out the exact spacing that made sense, and started boring the holes with my 1 1/2″ forstner bit, making sure they were all drilled to the same level and evenly.
I then added a nice camfer bevel all the way around to dress them up a bit and then it was on to sanding them down. I do like to test the fit of the glasses as I go along to make sure everything is aligned in case I need to make any changes.
After that it was time to add some finish in this case I decided to stick with some hand rubbed polyurethane to give them some protection, without being too thick.
