What do you do when you have some scrap plywood laying around, I mean other than throw it into the scrap pile or the fire pit? You find something creative to do with it, or somewhat creative.

So after a bit of gluing and some passes thorugh the table saw, and miter saw and we have some blocks of wood that can be assembled in a very structured pattern layout.

Once that was completed it was time to bring them all together in a solid square of plywood. Of course that is after all of the glue dries, then it will be solid.

Then it was time to square it up and sand it smooth and remove all of the dried glue that was squeezed out during the time in the clamps.

The next step was to add a wrap around the tray, and securly faten it into place with some woodscrews and glue to give it a more finished look. Or as finished as plywood can be.

After looking at the way the try was shaping up, I decided it needed a few more plywood strips, and some carry handles. And by carry handles I mean old drawer pulls that were originally on my kitchen cabinets when I moved into my house. So I’m saying everything in this project are either scrap, or leftover from something else.

After the final design was done all that was left was to add a few layers of polyurethane. Overall it turned out pretty good for a whole bunch of scrap pile and a leftover cabinet hardware pile. And it’s a nice decorative piece to have laying around.
