Sometimes I look at something I have laying around my house. In this case I looked at my Echo Dot in my kitchen and thought “Is there a way to get more volume out of this thing without plugging it into an amplified speaker system?” Then I looked at some items out on Amazon and I thought to myself again “I can make one of those, and make it better.”

Then I looked at my scrap wood pile and found some pine and poplar remnants and cut a quick bunch of squares, and some dado cuts to make a solid wooden box to work as my base.

Then it was time to look at the clamps and glue to start bringing them all together. I think if I had spent a little more time thinking about it, I would have made it bit taller.

The next step was to bore some holes to fit the echo and create a passive amplification out of the box; then of course do a test fit to make sure that my sizing works and everything fits into place correctly.

Once the test fit was done it was time for some linseed oil and putting it in it’s final place. Overall it does increase the sound out of the echo dot, and it looks pretty good and a little more decorative in my kitchen.
